RACE creates first motorists observatory

17.04.15
DUCIT, the first Spanish Observatory of Motorists, set up and developed by RACE, was founded with the aim of giving a voice to motorists to better know the opinions of millions of people who drive cars daily.

DUCIT asks for, and explores the suggestions of motorists to improve mobility in Spain. The results of these surveys are published online, making them available to everyone.

DUCIT has already produced four surveys, addressing issues such as vehicle sales, mobility and road safety, as well as the analysis of mobility trends from both local and national perspectives.

One of DUCIT’s more recent surveys focused on driving habits and the perception that motorists have of themselves.

The results emphasised that Spanish motorists enjoy driving. Yet many motorists have acquired bad habits: 11% (2.7 million drivers) admit to not respecting speed limits, and 7% (over 1.8 million users) use mobile telephone applications.

To keep track of these habits, DUCIT created the Driving Responsibility Index (DRI). This index ranks Spanish motorists with a score of 58.8 out of 100, representing a wide margin for improvement in aspects related to safety, such as driver training, vehicle maintenance and road infrastructure.

To participate in a DUCIT survey is quite simple. If you are a motorist and live in Spain and are more than 18 years of age, log onto their website at www.ducit.es
