Never before has a driver from Singapore won an international competition like the CIK-FIA KF Asia Pacific. This success is the work of Julien Fong Wei Jie, a young man of 21 years whose determination equals his seriousness.

"Having participated in many national competitions in Singapore, I decided to try my luck in Europe in 2011. Then I did my military service and it was not easy to prepare myself for the races. This year I am more able to invest in karting with a more comprehensive European program. The first difference from Asia is the grip of European circuits. It takes some time to get used to. The Kartronix International team has advised me and I got better throughout the season.

"I did not know the Suzuka track when I arrived for the Asia-Pacific Championship, but it did not give me any real problems as I got the second best lap time. During the racing, tyres quickly deteriorated and I had to take this factor into account. I still won both heats. In race 1, I fought hard against Takashi Kasai, I could have been able to win, but I preferred to secure second place. My rival had problems in race 2, so I kept a good pace and I finished top.

"I intend to continue karting in Europe next year to progress further and hopefully get a podium!"
