INTERESTING FACTS

After a year of absence, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza returns to the 2017 FIA F3 European Championship calendar. The circuit was built in 1922 and can since look back at a long history in hosting motor sport events. The track’s biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix; with the exception of 1980, the F1 race has taken place here since the series' inception.

The Monza track is one of the fastest circuits on the calendar. The current lap record was set by Charles Leclerc in 2015 and equals an average speed of around 200km/h. The major features of the main Grand Prix track include the Curva Grande, the Curva di Lesmo, the Variante Ascari and the Curva Parabolica. The high-speed curve, Curva Grande, which was renamed Curva Biassono, is a long right turn with a 300 metres radius. The circuit has a capacity for 137,000 spectators and attracts big numbers of fans every year.

Despite the fact that the entry list features drivers from 11 different nationalities, there is no Italian driver on the grid this year. However, Prema Powerteam races under the Italian flag and contests its home race at the circuit near Milan.
