2013 season CIK-FIA Awards in Milan

WSK Promotion, the new promoter of CIK-FIA international karting events, was responsible for organizing the annual awards ceremony for last season. The event took place on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in Milan, in the East End studios hall.

In the presence of Sheikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the President of the CIK-FIA, Luca De Donno, Chairman of WSK Promotion, opened the ceremony with a testimony of sympathy for Michael Schumacher after which everyone assembled made a standing ovation for the tough champion. Although he could not be present at Milan, the newly elected FIA President Jean Todt sent a message that was read by the presenter of the ceremony.

Trophies were then awarded to the three 2013 World Karting Champions Tom Joyner in KF, Max Verstappen in KZ, and Alessio Lorandi in KF-Junior, as well as the drivers classified 2nd and 3rd in the world competitions. The European, Asia-Pacific, the top three Academy Award winners and the International Super Cup winners were also honored, in addition to Adeline Prudent, the female driver of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, so a total of 18 drivers went onto the stage.

The Bahrain International Circuit received the best CIK-FIA event of 2013. Mark Burgess was awarded a trophy by Kees Van de Grint, the Vice-President of the CIK-FIA, for all of his family in honour of the long contribution Karting Magazine has made to the media of the discipline. Finally, the photo by Philippe Kalmes was chosen by all participants as the best of the CIK-FIA Karting year.

The ceremony took place during dinner, punctuated with music and video projections of the best parts of the season. All guests were given the CIK-FIA Best of the 2013, a book of 150 pages of text and pictures of the highlights of the year just ended.
