WORLD MOTOR SPORT COUNCIL
27.02.2007

An extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council was held in Paris on 27 February, 2007. The following decisions were taken:

WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Pirelli has won the tender to be the official tyre supplier to the 2008, 2009 and 2010 FIA World Rally Championships. It will now enter into a formal contract to supply tyres in all events of the Championship to all competitors with a four-wheel drive rally car (as defined in the International Sporting Code).

FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

With the agreement of all the competing teams, and subject to the agreement of the Formula One Commission, a number of amendments have been made to the 2007 sporting regulations.*

The following technical measures, originally scheduled for 2010, have been deferred to 2011 to coincide with the introduction of the new definitions for the engine:

A proportion of waste heat recovered and used to propel the car.
A proportion of waste energy from exhaust gases recovered and used to propel the car wholly or partially standardised aerodynamics (or, possibly, new rules to encourage road-relevant research into aerodynamics).

*The full regulations, including the recent amendments, will be available to download from the FIA website – www.FIA.com.

WORLD TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP

For 2007, with the agreement of all the manufacturers involved, the first race of each event in the FIA World Touring Car Championship will have a rolling start, with the second race remaining a standing start.

The seventh event of the Championship on 29 July 2007 will take place at the Anderstorp circuit in Sweden, replacing the Istanbul event.
