Having examined detailed records provided by the organisation responsible for timekeeping at the event, the Stewards are satisfied that car no. 11 (Fisichella) had crossed the Line to complete 55 laps and started his 56th lap before the signal to stop the race was given.
The race was therefore stopped on the 56th lap. As a consequence, under the provisions of Article 154 of the Formula One Sporting Regulations, the race classification should be that at the end of lap 54. The Race Classification for the Grande Premio do Brazil 2003 is therefore:
| POS | NO | DRIVER | NAT | ENTRANT |
| 1 | 11 | G. FISICHELLA | ITA | Jordan Ford |
| 2 | 6 | K. RAIKKONEN | FIN | West McLaren Mercedes |
| 3 | 8 | F. ALONSO | ESP | Mild Seven Renault F1 Team |
| 4 | 5 | D. COULTHARD | GBR | West McLaren Mercedes |
| 5 | 10 | H. FRENTZEN | GER | Sauber Petronas |
| 6 | 16 | J. VILLENEUVE | CAN | Lucky Strike BAR Honda |
| 7 | 4 | R. SCHUMACHER | GER | BMW WilliamsF1 Team |
| 8 | 7 | J. TRULLI | ITA | Mild Seven Renault F1 Team |
| 9 | 14 | M. WEBBER | AUS | Jaguar Racing |
| 10 | 21 | C. DA MATTA | BRA | Panasonic Toyota Racing |
The Stewards are submitting a separate report to the FIA under Article 152 of the International Sporting Code on the circumstances which gave rise to the wrong race classification being issued in Brazil.
