FIA Action for Road Safety: Institutional Partnerships
Institutional partners include the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (ICRC), the International Communications Union (ITU), the International Transport Forum (ITF) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Socieities (IFRC)
The IFRC and the FIA have signed a partnership with an initial focus on strengthening cooperation on post-crash care - the fifth pillar of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. The FIA and the IFRC will promote joint initiatives to raise awareness on the importance of first aid knowledge through the FIA's worldwide network of clubs.
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
The FIA and the ITU have signed an agreement to work on a joint programme to develop standards in the field of road safety and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The FIA and the ITU have also coordinated a campaign about ICT and road safety, focussing on the dangers of technology-related driver distraction. This campaign - known as the Text and Drive campaign - will focus on the dangers of texting and driving.
The International Transport Forum (ITF)
The FIA and the ITF have signed an agreement to improve the collection of road safety data and its analysis. Further to this, the FIA and the ITF will work on the development of universal road traffic safety indicators to support FIA members when addressing national road safety problems.
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
Since 2012, the FIA and the IDB have been working together to improve road safety in the Latin American region and Caribbean countries. The 'Paving the Way to Road Safety' conference is the outcome of this cooperation. This annual conference has been held in two countries (Brazil and the Dominican Republic) with the aim of facilitating regional and cross-country dialogue among governments on road safety issues.
