By virtue of the World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism’s (WCAM&T) decision at its meeting on 6 December 2011, and the decision of the FIA General Assembly at its meeting on 9 December 2011, the former FIA Mobility Commissions have been dissolved.
During 2012, the WCAM&T has been empowered by the General Assembly to take the necessary steps to create two new Commissions: FIA Mobility’s Policy Commission and FIA Mobility’s Services Commission, which will function under the guidance and coordination of FIA Mobility’s new Programmes Committee.
Steps include appointing a Chair and Vice Chair for each Commission, approving Terms of Reference for each Commission, and also approving the Terms of Reference of the Programmes Committee, the members of which are all members by right.
The purpose in creating a new Mobility Commissions’ structure is to streamline and make more effective the FIA and club engagement in global public policy and service matters, as well as to create a more transparent and coordinated link to the WCAM&T and thus to the General Assembly.
More information will be available once the new Commissions are fully operational, with Chairs, Vice-Chairs, members, and Terms of Reference, and once they have begun to plan their agendas and work plans.
