Rallye de France - Day 3

03/10/2010

2010 FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
RALLY DE FRANCE

03.10.2010

Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena today won the inaugural Rallye de France - Alsace and in so doing have clinched a record-breaking seventh consecutive FIA World Rally Championship title (*subject to the official publication of the results by the FIA). Team-mates Dani Sordo and Diego Vallejo claimed second, securing the FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers for Citroën*. The final podium position was taken by Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson.

In the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, Loeb’s 60th world rally victory secured the title with two rounds in Spain and Great Britain remaining. Sébastien Ogier remains second ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala and Petter Solberg respectively. In the Manufacturers’ Championship, Citroën’s one-two finish has secured their third consecutive world title.

Today’s final day of Rallye de France took in two loops of two stages, with the final stage taking place in Loeb’s home town, Haguenau. Positions throughout the top 10 leaderboard remained unchanged during the day, although Jari-Matti Latvala continued to push Solberg for the final podium position, gaining time when the Norwegian went off in SS18 and lost 11 seconds. Dani Sordo had a scare this morning when he had to change a water hose at the end of the first running of the Haguenau stage, but the Spaniard had no further problems.

The FIA World Rally Championship crews now head to Salou for the Rally RACC Catalunya Costa Daurada - Rally de España (21-24 October).
