Anti-Doping Committee – FIA Medical Commission

08/12/2010

Mr Francesco Bastini refused to submit to Sample collection during a doping control carried out by the FIA on 2 October 2010 during the “Coppa del Chianti Classico” event of the FIA Historic Hill-Climb Championship held in Castellina in Chianti, Italy.

The Anti-Doping Committee – FIA Medical Commission (ACMC) held a hearing in this case on Thursday, 4 November 2010.

Decision of the ACMC

The ACMC has concluded that an Anti-Doping Rule Violation has been established according to Article 2.3 of the FIA Anti-Doping Regulations – “Refusing or failing without compelling justification to submit to Sample collection after notification in accordance with the Regulations in force, or otherwise evading Sample collection".

As a consequence, the ACMC has decided to impose the sanction of ineligibility for a period of 2 years to Mr Francesco Bastini, starting on 8 October 2010, which corresponds to the date when the FIA imposed a Provisional Suspension on him.

Mr Francesco Bastini has 21 days to appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
