F1 Drivers Back Global Road Safety Campaign
 
Formula One’s racing drivers added their names to the FIA’s Make Roads Safe campaign on Sunday 18th March, before the first race of the season.
 
 
 
 
     
FIA Supports Honda Initiative  
In an interview, filmed for the launch of the new Honda ‘Earth Car’, FIA President Max Mosley said that the Japanese company has set an example for the other manufacturers to follow. FIA President Max Mosley was interviewed for the launch issue of F1 Racing Green, a 68-page supplement to the April edition of F1 Racing magazine. F1 Racing Green will appear on a quarterly basis thereafter and will investigate and communicate all Formula One stakeholders' initiatives regarding the environmental challenges in and around the sport.
     

CAMS Launches Motor Sport Safety Institute

 
The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport has founded the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety, an independent body which aims to promote improvements in the safety of motor sport and the relationship between motor sport and road safety in Australia.
       

WTCC Promotes Brazil Charity

 
The opening round of the 2007 FIA World Touring Car Championship made a huge contribution to the Brazilian community by offering tickets in exchange for food for starving people in the country.
       

ACI Sets 2010 Road Safety Target

 

The Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) has initiated a national campaign to halve the number of casualties on Italian roads by 2010.
 
 

     
Euro NCAP MPV Safety Results  
A number of car manufacturers are still falling some way short of the required road safety standards, according to a new report released by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
     

FIA Backs E-Safety Campaign

 

The FIA is backing a Europe-wide campaign to raise awareness about Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The ‘Choose ESC!’ campaign, which is set to be launched in May, aims to increase the take-up of this life-saving active safety technology in all markets across Europe.

The Forum for the Automobile & Society held its biggest ever public meeting in February with almost 200 participants converging in Brussels for the event.
       

African Countries Welcome Conference Week

 
Automobile clubs across Africa have given an overwhelming thumbs-up to the first ever Conference Week in South Africa. Delegates from across the region are set to converge on Cape Town for the May event, hosted by the South African Automobile Association.

Wurz talks Safety at FIA Summit  
WilliamsF1 driver Alex Wurz presented a fascinating overview of safety from a drivers’ point of view at the inaugural FIA Institute Safety Summit. The presentation includes footage from his 180mph crash in testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in May 2005. Summit Publishes Event Report

 

The inaugural FIA Institute Centre of Excellence Summit featured 12 high-level presentations and 16 workshop sessions delivered by representatives from various global sports. The post-show Event Report offers an overview and synopsis of every session during the two-day conference.

 
     

FIA Institute Set To Form Medical Faculty

 

The FIA Institute has announced the creation of a new Medical Faculty which will seek to consolidate the expertise of motor sport doctors and medical staff around the world.

       

African Ministers Back Roads Safety Declaration

 
African Ministers of Transport and Health have adopted a new declaration which fully endorses the main recommendations of the Make Road Safe report of the Commission for Global Road Safety.
 
     
Washington Welcomes FIA Foundation Safety Campaign  
The Make Roads Safe campaign has stepped up its profile in Washington DC having been featured at the Transportation Research Board’s 86th Annual Meeting and in discussion with key policy makers in the US capital.
 
     

Transport Ministers Publish CO2 Emissions Report

 

The European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) has published a timely new report which examines the level of CO2 emissions from the transport sector and reviews the effectiveness of CO2 abatement policies.
