Mobility and the Automobile.

Foundation Develops Road Safety Across Spain
In 1994, RACC created the
RACC Foundation to bring together all activities related
to road safety, mobility management and the protection
of the environment. This short film, released as part of
RACC’s centenary, outlines the work of the Foundation
with particular focus on its development of road safety.

to changes in Formula One in 2006, according to the FIA/AMD
Formula One Survey, the largest survey of its kind in motor
sport.
Feature: Developing
the FIA Institute’s High Speed Barrier
Barriers that can protect
drivers in high speed incidents are essential in open wheel
racing. For this reason the FIA and the FIA Institute have
been focused on developing an ingenious solution – a
barrier able to protect drivers in high speed impacts,
at even the most constricted of circuits.
A number of new regulations,
sanctioned by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, will be
introduced into the FIA Formula One World Championship
in 2007 and 2008, as the sport shapes up for an exciting
future.
A major new policy document
that sets out a comprehensive strategy to promote road safety
worldwide was adopted by the FIA General Assembly at its
annual meeting on October 20, 2006.

AA South Africa Looks Forward to FIA Conference Week
2007
The Automobile
Association of South Africa (AA) has produced this short
film as a prelude to hosting the 2007 FIA Conference
Week in Cape Town from 28 June to 1 May. The film outlines
the work, progress and future plans of the AA, which
is today the largest automobile club in Africa.

Accolades for Award-Winning FIA Institute
The FIA Institute has won
two International accolades for its work in motor sport safety.
The awards mark the swift progress the FIA Institute has
made in motor sport safety research in the two years since
it launched.
The FIA
Institute has launched its first annual review, entitled
'Formula for Safety', which aims to give readers an overview
of the FIA Institute and its objectives as well as an
in-depth insight into some of its present and future
projects.
A revolutionary GPS marshalling
system, developed by the F1 Technical Department in conjunction
with the FIA Institute, will be introduced to the 2007
FIA Formula One World Championship.
The FIA Institute’s
Industry Liaison Group (ILG) held its first plenary session
in Paris in front of a packed audience, including over
90 representatives from the motor sport safety industry.
Karting’s world governing
body, the Commission Internationale de Karting-FIA has
launched a new doping prevention campaign in partnership
with the FIA Institute and the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Reducing unemployment
and social exclusion is an objective for most governments,
and a new international report published by the FIA Foundation
shows how transport policies can help or hinder this effort.
