ERTICO Honours FIA President
FIA President Max Mosley.

FIA President Max Mosley has been named the first Honorary Member of ERTICO, the organisation that funds research and development for Intelligent Transport Systems and Services.

He was awarded this distinction for his outstanding service to ERTICO and for promoting the use of intelligent transport systems, especially in road safety.

At its General Assembly in Genval, Belgium, the ERTICO Supervisory Board commended Mosley for his commitment and dedication to the organisation over the last eight years. He served as a member of the ERTICO Supervisory Board from 1999 to 2000 and was unanimously elected ERTICO Chairman in 2001, a position he held until 2004.

Since then until May this year, Mosley represented ERTICO as its President and Spokesman.

During his tenure as ERTICO Chairman, Mosley was instrumental in the creation and promotion of the eSafety initiative. This programme brought together the European Commission, automotive industry, public authorities and other stakeholders to accelerate the development, deployment and use of Intelligent Vehicle Safety Systems to increase road safety and reduce the number of accidents on Europe's roads.
