AMD presents FIA Fans Survey

The results of the FIA-AMD Formula One Survey showed that fans want to see more overtaking and more emphasis on driver skill.

AMD, the Official Technology Partner of the FIA, will give a presentation on the FIA-AMD Formula One Survey at the inaugural Formula One Sponsorship Forum, in Monaco on November 16.

The presentation, which will be delivered by AMD director of marketing Morris Denton, will examine the methodology of the survey, its results and the immediate impact it has had on the sport.

The survey was the largest international market research study undertaken in motor sport, with over 93,000 respondents in 180 countries worldwide. It produced some fascinating results. It found that 94 per cent of fans want more overtaking, 88
per cent say showcasing the skills of the drivers is the most essential aspect of Formula One and 74 per cent of fans want more emphasis on driver skill and less on driver aids.

The FIA took full account of the results when finalising the regulations for the 2008 Formula One World Championship. The survey formed part of the FIA consultation on these regulations, which were recently ratified by the World Motor Sport.
